  2. The scene opens in a parking lot in front of a clinic in Los Angeles. It’s late in the afternoon, so most of the parking spaces are empty by now. Then, a black Jeep Wagoneer pulls in. The man driving it is not here for a check up, though. He’s just here to make a point. Adam Stryker gets out of the driver seat, dressed in dark jeans and a black henley. He opens the door to the backseat and pulls out two precious possessions. First, the Interstate Championship, which he slings over his right shoulder. Then the freshly won Undisputed Heavyweight Championship. He glances at it with a satisfied smile before putting it on his left shoulder. He walks a few steps away from the car so he’s perfectly central in the shot and finally faces the camera. “It seems that in our business, somebody announces a new era of something just about every week. Most of the times, in most other companies, it’s a load of bullshit. But I think you’ve come to understand that when Adam Stryker says something, it’s one hundred percent true. So believe me when I say that this,” he nods towards the Undisputed title, “is truly a start of a new era in AWS.” He straightens up and puffs out his chest. “At Ward 361, I shocked the world. I went from undefeated to Undisputed and added a sixth World championship to my resume at the expense of the man who terrorized the main event scene of this company for the past seven months. All that in my fourth match here,” he says, holding up four fingers for a second. “I don’t know the entire storied history of AWS but I don’t think there has ever been a man with a start in the company quite like mine. I know that it might rub some people the wrong way, but they might have to get used to it. I’ve enjoyed the celebrations with my family, the happy moments, looking at both the beautiful championships I have won here and at the nice round zero in my Defeat column.” Adam takes a moment. His expression gets more serious. Reminiscent about something. “But all that being said… I also know it won’t last forever. In the end, that’s why we’re here,” he says, turning around for a second to take a glance at the building behind him. “Out of my eight years away from active competition, I spent five of them here. Every day, every single morning without fail. The people at this clinic took my severely injured knee that nobody else had any idea what to do with, and performed miracles on it. Before entering these doors for the first time, I wasn’t sure if I was going to walk properly without pain ever again. The last time I walked out of them, five years later, I felt as good as I ever was. Or as the championships on my shoulders would have you believe, even better. But it was a hard trade-off. Eight years ago, I thought I would take a few months off and be back like nothing happened. Instead, I went from the top of my game straight to rock bottom. One bad move, one split second, meant eight years of surgeries, rehabs and pain.” His grip on the championship belts tightens. “That’s why I understand that no matter how good I feel, everything can change in a second. I know how easy it is to lose something. Or everything… That’s why, ever since I came back, I’ve wrestled every match like it was my last. That drive, that intensity, brought me these championships and I know it will either keep them in my possession, or kill me. But I’m willing to take those chances. In my time away, I’ve been reading up on Stoic philosophy and one of the concepts that really resonated with me was Memento Mori. Remember you will die. It may sound morbid at first, but then you realize how true it is. Don’t think about what’s coming, because it may not come. The only thing that matters is what you’re doing right here, right now.” He points his finger to the ground. “At WrestleVersary, I walk into the Empty Asylum match as the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. I know that in a multi-man match like this, the odds are stacked against me, that I can lose this precious championship as quickly as I got it. I’m not going to stand here and bullshit you about how I will eliminate every single one of my opponents personally. No, I’m beyond that, I’m too experienced to know that it can’t be true and that I have to play the numbers game in that match. But I can promise you one thing. And that’s the fact that I will leave everything I have, all the experience from the 20 years in wrestling and all the pain from the eight years on the mend, to escape the Pennhurst Asylum with the title. I don’t care if they have to roll me out on a wheelchair, carry me out on a stretcher or in a body bag, I will have the AWS Undisputed Heavyweight Championship in my hands!” His voice echoes. He takes a second to calm down. “Why? Because this is not JUST a title defence. This is not JUST chaotic carnage of a match. No… at WrestleVersary, Adam Stryker is proving a point. I said it when I arrived, I said it again when I challenged Leon Roberts. I am taking AWS into a new era. To prove that, I have to beat a field of opponents where four out of five have held this Undisputed Championship before. Sammy the Creep might be the only bigger outsider than me, but since he’s coming in from AWS’ long-time friends ECWF, I don’t really think he is. Other than him? The other four men have built this company. Put their blood and sweat to make this championship mean something. Drake Nygma, perhaps the only man in this business who can detach any emotions from what he’s doing in the ring. That’s what makes him dangerous. Daron Smythe, a veteran like me who knows just how good he is and has been able to turn that confidence into multiple World titles. Ethan Murphy, a generational talent, maybe the biggest fan favorite in AWS, and a man who’s already a two time World Champion at age 24. And Leon Roberts… The man who didn’t shy away from ending not just title aspirations, but entire careers to hold on to his championship.” He takes a second and nods. “I respect them all, don’t take this the wrong way. They built this place. They showed AWS what is possible with the Undisputed Championship. My problem is… That’s all in the past, yet it’s all they talk about. Hell, all Smythe and Nygma had to say before their match on Ward was how their rivalry goes way back. I don’t live in the past. Adam Stryker is what AWS is RIGHT. FUCKING. NOW. And that’s what makes all those guys so anxious. That an outsider dared to come and ruin their little party of old pals. That something unknown changed the entire paradigm. That the real standard of AWS is running away from them.” Adam smirks. “That should scare them. Because it’s true. When we walk into the Empty Asylum, when we show the world who we are when nobody’s watching… I will remind everyone that I don’t care who they were yesterday. Or what’s coming tomorrow. Memento Mori doesn’t mean live in fear of the end. It means don’t waste what’s in front of you right now. At WrestleVersary, I will not waste a single moment. I will defend MY Undisputed championship because I am the only one that dares to leave it all there and then.” The scene fades to black.

  5. MONDAY We open backstage during the latest Monday Night Ward. Balístico is sitting on the floor, back against the wall, still clutching his neck. He’s silent. Reflective. „MOTHERFUCKER!“ Those words fly out of the month of someone not so reflective. Another thing that flies is a water bottle across the hall. As you’d expect, DEADMARSH walks into the frame, furious. „This is some bullshit!“ he shouts, pacing around. „We were on a roll! Undefeated! And now a goddamn high schooler and that old emo weirdo–„ „Beat us,“ Balístico says, surprisingly calmly. „Stole the win from us, dude! Like what the fuck?! We had a whole plan, we kept double teaming them and–„ „Marshy. They beat us. Fair and square. Uno, dos, tres,“ Balístico responds, trying to calm DEADMARSH down. The big man stops in his tracks, breathing heavily, doing his best to cool down. He shakes his head. „I… I don’t know dude. I guess you’re right,“ DEADMARSH says resignedly. Balístico wills himself up to his feet. „Marshy, you can’t go crazy like this every time things don’t go our way. We had a plan and structure. They had chaos. Sometimes, that’s what works. We’ll bounce back. We just can’t let you lose your head because of it.“ „Yeah, after you nearly lost yours out there,“ DEADMARSH says with a sarcastic tone. „Very grown-up reaction from you,“ Balístico says. DEADMARSH sighs. „Alright, sorry… Back to the drawing board?“ „Back to the drawing board,“ Balístico nods, puts his hand on DEADMARSH’s shoulder and the two walk away. THURSDAY The new scene opens on granite and sky. We are somewhere in Sierra Nevada, at an overlook you have to earn with at least a short hike. The peaks in the background are dusted with a little bit of snow, whatever remains before the spring properly kicks in. The sky is pale blue. Two people stand near the edge. The towering DEADMARSH, with both hands in the front pocket of his hoodie, is looking out. Balístico, in the same black tracksuit his friend has, stands to the side. Still and observant as always. „I needed this,“ DEADMARSH says in a surprisingly calm, soft voice. He’s still looking out, back to the camera. „We both did. It’s been a very loud week, one thought jumping over another in my head… We needed some peace and quiet to recollect.“ He takes a second and finally turns around to face the camera. Balístico steps beside him. „Last week, we made… Well, let’s be honest, I made a fatal mistake preparing for our match at Ward. I thought we had it won before the bell rang. I respect JohnZo Scary’s unpredictability, I always knew what young Stryker was capable off, but I shrugged them off because I thought they couldn’t coexist against an actual team,“ he acknowledges. „And it turns out they could,“ Balístico chimes in. „It was our first ever loss as a tag team. And as angry as it made me in the first place… It most importantly made us realize the rookie mistakes we made,“ DEADMARSH says. „We can’t walk into a match thinking it’s already won. We can’t think our chemistry will just automatically carry us through it.“ „We have to actually work as a team and react,“ Balístico finishes the thought. „And that we will,“ DEADMARSH continues. „Ever since we started in AWS, I always kept reminding everyone that we’re here for the tag team titles, and that we’ll fight anybody to get to them. Anything between then and the moment we raise those belts above our heads is a proving ground. And after Ward, we know that the road to those belts is not a straight one. It’s a bit of a climb, much like the one that brought us to this place.“ He looks around for a second, taking in the stillness of the surrounding nature. „WrestleVersary is the next logical step for us. No more pre-show bullshit. Battle Beasts step up onto the main stage, and they’re doing it right at the biggest event of year. The way I see it, the winners of this match should challenge whoever unifies the titles between Hard Mode and Feigel & Halsted. So, as far as I’m concerned? This is the match that matters the most. The loss, and even the wins before that, all that is long gone. THIS is the make or break,“ he says and lets that hang in the air for a second. „And looking at the field of this match, something is pretty sure to break,“ Balístico says. „We got the War Gods. Ares and Odin,“ DEADMARSH states. „A Greek god and a Norse god? They’re more of an international team than us,“ Balístico drops with a sarcastic tone, causing DEADMARSH to break and chuckle for the first time. „Putting that aside… War Gods are the standard of the division here,“ DEADMARSH continues. „Two time world tag team champions. Somebody we should measure ourselves up against. They are the team to beat if you want to take your quest for the belts seriously. I’m gonna do the smart thing this time and not make fun of their whole shtick. Trust me, we could spend hours standing here poking hole into the mythology. But we understand one thing. Even if you take the facepaint and all those things around them away, they’re still two big scary dudes, with two styles that compliment one another in the ring. One is the brains, the other is the violent X factor. Doesn’t matter if they’re called Ares and Odin or Steve and Eugene.“ „And they have one more person at ringside to make it even tougher for us,“ Balístico adds. „We know what we’re walking into. We’ve always known,“ DEADMARSH says, crossing his arms across his chest. „But we’re not here to make excuses, we’re here to fight. And let me tell you one thing – the fact that we can respect what The War Gods are even if you strip all their mythology away actually gives us an advantage. You know why? Because as far as I’m concerned, their presentation is half of the battle. The war drums, the face paint, the eerie atmosphere… Most people stand in the ring, watching them arrive, and they’re already shitting their pants, thinking about defeat.“ „But not us,“ Balístico shakes his head. „No, not us,“ DEADMARSH repeats. „And not because we’re fearless and just dive into anything. No, that would be stupid. We just don’t deal in stories, prophecy, or whatever the stars and old texts say is going to happen. We aren’t interested about talking with them about Ragnarok, it’s not Victory or Valhalla for us. What remains is just a match. For you, at least, it’s just a match. And for us?“ „It’s the biggest opportunity of our careers,“ Balístico says proudly. DEADMARSH nods. „WrestleVersary, for many people on the card, is the biggest night of their year. For some of the bigger stars, maybe just of that month? But for us, it’s everything. It’s the next step, the next LEAP we need to make to show we’re for real. And I can assure all of you that we might not have the blessing of the ancient gods, but we have all the hard work that we’ve done, and we will put all of it into this match. We might have lost our last battle… But in the end, we will win the war.“ Balístico raises his right arm. „A la batalla!“ echoes through the surroundings. We fade to black.
  6. The shot opens inside David Stryker’s room. It’s modest, minimalistic, almost to a scary degree. Just white walls, a bed and desk with a closed laptop. No posters, no TVs and video game consoles… Just the room of somebody who doesn’t want or need any distractions from the path he chose. David is sitting cross legged on the bed, facing the camera, dressed in a black tracksuit with the hood of his hoodie draped over his head. He’s looking focused as every, almost angry, like he’s holding something back. „So I guess the word of the month in AWS is RESPECT,“ he says. „At least that’s what everybody keeps talking to me about. About how I don’t show it. Or might not have it at all,“ he smirks. „And I mean everybody. The fans online. My opponents. Even my own tag team partner, who I CARRIED to that win on the Ward pre-show, has the audacity to call out my father and say he didn’t teach me about respect.“ David scoffs. „So this is for JohnZo, and for everybody else watching. You can be sure that David Stryker knows more about respect than most of you. My father, my grandfather, they all taught me about it. And the most important thing they told me? That like many other things in life, it’s a two way street. You can’t give it if you’re not getting it. And so far, nobody has shown me an ounce of respect. I don’t ask to be treated like a precious little prince just because my father is who he is. It’s not about that. I just need basic respect. I just need you to realize that just because I’m 18 and only made my debut a few weeks ago, it doesn’t mean I’ll be a pin-eating ragdoll that you can use to improve your win/loss record. Jason Knight thought so. Thought he’d teach me a lesson. So I nearly took his head off. Battle Beasts thought so, too. So I dropped that masked smartass Balístico on his face and handed those two bozos their first L.“ David chuckles, pleased with himself. „Maybe at WrestleVersary, when I make my PPV debut just three matches into my career, everybody will finally understand and RESPECT the fact that Yung Switchblade is the real deal…“ He crosses his arms across his chest. „I get to open the anniversary show against a new signee, a veteran by the name of Boone Carter. Look at me. Three matches in and I’m the gatekeeper of this company!“ David laughs. „Since we’re on the topic of respect, I’d like to say that I respect Boone. He’s been around longer than I’ve been alive, he won a heavyweight title over in Japan, which is something I’d love to do down the line as well. But the thing I respect most about Boone Carter is his openness. Rarely do you see a giant who’s almost 350 pounds be so… vulnerable.“ He lets those words hang in the air for a second before he continues. „Boone… In your introduction to AWS, you talked openly about everything you lost. Your marriage, money, pretty much everything a man could lose. So you returned to pro-wrestling out of necessity. Desperation, even. And the way you try to sell it to the fans and all of us in the locker room is that there’s nothing more dangerous than a desperate man like you. A man fighting for his livelihood that has nothing else to lose.“ David shakes his head. „I don’t buy that.“ A cocky smirk appears on his face. „A monster of a man like you shouldn’t do this. You think you’re presenting yourself like a killer, but all I see is a big man that kept losing in life trying to shield himself from people who see through him. People who know that behind all the talk, he’s just begging for sympathy. People like me. Well Boone, I can tell you from my still short but intense experience here that AWS has no place for sympathy. And that paycheck you’re after? You’re gonna have to earn that, cowboy. Against somebody who knows that however dangerous a desperate man might be, a focused, driven man is far more dangerous still. I can assure you that there is no one more driven, focused and hungry for success than David Stryker. If that information can’t make its way to your meaty brain quickly enough, I’m gonna have to stomp it into it.“ He gets up from the bed and walks closer to the camera. „When WrestleVersary starts, it’s literally David vs. Goliath. Learn your lessons from that mythical creature, stop moaning about how hard your life is and just give me a fight. I’ll learn my lesson from my namesake too. Because just like King David, I know I only need one well aimed shot to take you down…“ The scene fades.

  8. Don’t Leave Business UnfinishedThe scene opens up in a room inside Adam Stryker’s house. The only room which Adam can have just for himself and enjoy some peace and quiet. There’s a standing desk for office work, a comfortable armchair and a coffee table. We see Adam sitting in that chair, dressed in jeans and a black Mastodon shirt. The early morning LA sun barely shines on him through the windows. There are a few things that differentiate this from other offices or mancaves. All the wrestling memorabilia from Adam Stryker’s career. All the titles he won in his career are hung on the wall, many from long ago from promotions that no longer exist. Among them are framed pictures. Adam after his first match, alongside his father, former wrestler Douglas Stryker. A photo of Adam winning his first World Championship, another one of him opening the Stryke Dojo. A picture of Adam with his friend, the late great John Pariah, embracing after a PWX match all the way back in 2014. No family memories here, no pictures with his kids. This place is just for everything Adam has done in wrestling. The newest part of the collection rests on the coffee table in front of Adam. The AWS Interstate Championship is not just thrown there carelessly, it’s positioned to face the camera for all to see. “So here we are. Once again I stood by my word,” Adam opens calmly, looking at the championship on the table before locking eyes on the camera. “When I signed the contract with AWS, I let everyone know that I am here to add to the title collection you see behind me. That before the end of 2026, I would be a champion in Asylum Wrestling Society.” He raises three fingers on his right hand. “It took me three matches,” he says, smirking, then crosses his arms across his chest. “At Survival of the Fittest in the Battle Rumble, I beat ten other competitors, eliminating five of them myself, to claim the Interstate title. That wasn’t just a championship win. That was a statement. One I fully intend to repeat and show this company what a champion looks like. Which reminds me of something…” Adam leans forward, grabs the title belt and puts it on his lap. “A real champion, a real man like me never leaves business unfinished. And as far as I’m concerned, there still is some, from my very first match with AWS. Wild Willey, my silly acquaintance from the Wild Wild West,” he chuckles. “You seem to be fine with having a Double Count Out on your record and move on. Well I sure as hell am not. I could have been happy with the fact that I personally dumped you out of the ring at Survival of the Fittest en route to my championship victory. But my pride won’t allow me that. Maybe that’s the fault of my ego, but I want you one-on-one so we can really close our chapter. I am willing to put my Interstate Championship on the line against you, at whatever occasion the boss deems big enough for this match. But I have some conditions. This time, I want no bullshit. No count-outs, disqualifications… I doubt we’ll even need a referee. Just somebody to close a body bag after,” Adam smirks. “If you’re the cowboy you claim to be, you won’t say no to this duel, partner… When you have an answer, you know where to find me. In the meantime, I have a main event to attend to,” he says proudly with a wide smile. He grabs the Interstate championship and puts it on his shoulder. “Leon Roberts versus Adam Stryker. Champion versus champion. That always has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? I know that on paper, we’re much alike. Two veterans, two men that have been through hell and back a few too many times, two champions. But I realize that when you zoom in, the similarities end. Our positions in AWS differ. My title is for those who are still climbing the ladder in AWS. A launchpad, if you will, for people who want to get… Well, where you are. To the main event of every show. To the Pinnacle Heavyweight Championship. Even if you don’t seem to like this particular one and paint pentagrams over it like an edgy fifteen year old, it is the biggest prize in the company. The one everyone, myself included, is gunning for.” He glances at his other shoulder, as if to provoke Leon and signal he wants to add another belt there, then looks back at the camera. “And there’s one more thing where we’re vastly different, Leon. You have the Black List Mafia behind you. A group of violent individuals just like you that will do anything you want them to do. Me?” Adam taps on the championship on his shoulder. “I won this beauty all by myself.” He settles comfortably in the armchair and smiles at the camera. “It’s not for a lack of people around me I could choose from. The Battle Beasts duo that’s fighting their way up the tag team rankings? I taught those two brats everything they know. Hell, I got my own son signed up for AWS’ developmental brand the second that kid turned 18. But I can’t call myself a real man and The Last Standard of our business if I have others fight my battles, can I? I expect the same from the Heavyweight Champion of this promotion. I expect to face the Leon Roberts I saw at Survival of the Fittest. The one who survived the brutal Three Stages of Hell, killed another man’s career and tightened his deathgrip on the title.” Adam takes a brief pause, reminiscing about the brutal PPV main event. “I saw what you can do and what you can withstand, Leon,” he says. “I saw what you had to say before, showing off your bullet wounds. I get it, you’re a tough fucker. While my father gave me most of what I needed to succeed, in life and in pro-wrestling, you had it tough from the beginning and had to survive and get violent to climb to the top. Okay. Fair play to you. But there’s something I still don’t buy.” Stryker gestures around his face. “The circus around it. The mask you put on without realizing it,” he says. “The Devil’s Titan, guided by Satan himself,” he adds and lets out a short dry laugh. “Before you even enter the ring, you need the atmosphere. The entourage around you. The aura that a big monster like you has, that is supposed to scare the opponent into submission before the bell even rings. There are people this works on. Not me. I can respect what you’ve accomplished, Leon, but I am sure as hell not scared. Because I see right through this act that you and most guys like you that I’ve faced in my 20 years in this business put on. Behind the satanic metal stuff you do is just a big fucker who never had to be the smartest man in the room because he always got away with being the biggest and hitting like freight train. I’m not saying it doesn’t work a lot of the times. But it has a ceiling.” Adam adjusts the title on his shoulder and stares at the camera. His jaw tightens. “Raw power. Scars from a life long gone. Weapons, chains, a guy who says he’s guided by the Devil himself… None of that is as scary as a real man with a plan who knows he needs just his own two hands and the four corners of a wrestling ring to always get what he wants.” He stares down the camera for a short, yet uncomfortable moment. “You’re looking at one.” Stryker takes the championship from his shoulder and holds it in his hands. “I know this match isn’t for either of our titles, Leon. But non title doesn’t mean it’s without consequence. Nothing I do is inconsequential. I beat a former World Champion already, and I cleared half of the battlefield with my own two hands to get to the Interstate Championship. Beating the current Pinnacle Heavyweight Champion, even taking the title from him… That’s just another step. Another statement about where AWS is headed. Where I am taking it.” Stryker shows a last quiet smile. “See you out there, champ…” The scene fades to black.

The grandson of California wrestling scene legend Douglas Stryker, the son of multiple time World Champion Adam Stryker and former female wrestling and MMA standout Maria Dainelli, David grew up around the wrestling ring and knew that the only thing he ever wants to be is a pro-wrestler and a champion like the rest of his family. His moveset is an heirloom from his father’s career – the Strech Muffler submission Adam passed down to him, the modern variation of Vortex, Adam’s first finisher, the Sleeping Pill move Adam used years ago, and moves inspired by one of his trainers Derrick Wiland and Adam’s first real friend in the business, the late great John Pariah. Now, freshly turned 18, he can finally step into the ring and continue the family legacy. After finishing his training in the Stryke Dojo, he signed his first professional contract with AWS. Motivation: Titles and family legacy. Personality Traits: Hot headed loudmouth to everyone other than his family and close ones. Obeys only those who raised him, in or outside the ring. Ongoing or Potential Storylines: – Hunt for the first title – Taking his father’s side in a multi-man feud – Disrespecting a babyface veteran
  10. The scene opens in a dark room. Just a few candles scattered around the floor that give us just enough light to see there are two men sitting at a wooden table. The one sitting down behind the table is a tall, muscular man, dressed in a grey hoodie, hood draped over his head. Standing behind him is a man in a white three-piece suit with one accessory standing out from his outfit – a black and gold luchador mask. „So we begin,“ the man in the hoodie says. „Fate has given us an unpredictable start in AWS. Newcomers, just like us. Two duos wanting to make the biggest impact on their way to gold. It’s exciting. It’s mysterious. Like a fresh deck of cards, where you don’t know what you’ll draw next,“ he continues and takes out a deck of cards from his pocket. He shuffles it properly, in complete silence, then carefully places it on the table before him and draws the top card. He doesn’t look at it, just shows it to the man behind him. „What does this one say?“ he asks. The masked man leans in. „It’s… Charizard.“ A record scratch. „Ooo, that’s cool,“ he masked man exclaims all excited and looks at the card. „And it’s shiny too!“ Both men laugh. „Can we turn the lights on please?“ the muscular man asks as he takes off his hood. The lights come on. We can truly identify the men as DEADMARSH and Balístico, the tag team known as Battle Beasts. „Well I guess this tells you all you need to know about us,“ DEADMARSH says directly to the camera with a big smile. „We came to Asylum Wrestling Society because we think it’s missing people like us. Take a look at the roster. Everybody is dark and mysterious, or a badass shit-talker, or even both. And everything has to be extreme and bloody. Remember when pro-wrestling used to be just… dumb fun?“ The two friends give each other a nod before DEADMARSH addresses the camera again. „That’s why we’re here. Balístico and me, we like to have fun in the ring and we love to fight, no matter who the management puts in front of us. We don’t to tape need mysterious promos in dark alleys and secret places under the arena where you’re more likely to catch an infection than make a good point about your match. We don’t need setups like this. Like, do you have any idea how much these freakin‘ candles cost?“ „I do. I bought them. You still owe me for half,“ Balístico chimes in dryly. „We’ll settle that later,“ DEADMARSH says. „All I’m saying is – Battle Beasts need just a few words to make their point, and a few minutes in that ring to show they’re the best up-and-coming tag team around. My friend Balístico is the most exciting luchador you’ve ever seen. He’s all calm and collected usually, but when he steps into the ring and starts doing his thing, you’ll start to think Johnny Knoxville is boring. And me? My name is DEADMARSH. All caps, if you’re writing it down. And I’m so strong I could beat a goddamn bull in an arm wrestling contest!“ he shouts. „Well the bull is at a disadvantage. He doesn’t have fingers to wrap around your hand in an arm wrestling match, Balístico says. „Let’s not get all sciencey here. My point is there’s nobody better and more unique in tag team wrestling now than Battle Beasts. And the aptly named Unfortunate Events will find out first hand at the pre-show when something very unfortunate happens to them. That’s when I host one of them on my shoulders and my friend here will drive their head to the mat. We call that the Giant Slayer. And it’s the move that will take us all the way to the AWS Tag Titles,“ DEADMARSH proclaims. „Or Duos titles. We’re not picky,“ Balístico says. „No, we’re not,“ DEADMARSH nods. „Just very, very hungry.“ Balístico grabs him by the shoulders and opens his eyes wide at the camera as he shouts: „A LA BATALLA!“ We slowly fade to black.
  11. Man of His Word The scene opens in the backyard of Adam Stryker’s house. The LA sun shines down on the green grass. It’s calm and quiet. The kids are at school, his wife Maria is inside taking care of chores, so Adam can be outside and reflect. The camera finds the veteran wrestler walking through the backyard. “I hope everybody saw Ward this past Tuesday. Saw that I am a man of my word,” Stryker says calmly, looking into the distance. Only then he turns around to address the camera directly. “I said Hector Venegas is still figuring himself out after all those years. He confirmed that when he decided to start wearing a mask again just before facing me. I said no matter what he tries, I will wrestle him to the ground. And I did just that. Put him to sleep in the center of the ring, no bullshit needed.” Stryker smirks, satisfied with himself. “I hope that really shows the AWS management, and all of you watching, that Adam Stryker is all he says he is and more. That AWS made a statement by signing me and now I will make my statement when I win one of the titles from their rich championship gallery. Notice that I said WIN,” he barks, letting the word echo for a second. “If you stayed after my match at Ward and watched the main event, you know AWS is just giving out titles now. That you can become a champion even if you’re the first one eliminated. A shiny gold belt for being the first one to lose.” Stryker chuckles and shakes his head. “No offense to any of the former world champs in that match… But that’s not how I roll. I don’t take championships as consolation prizes. When I walk into Detroit for Survival of the Fittest, whether I’ll have to go through the eight other people currently advertised for the match, or anybody else that wants to throw their name in the hat, I intend to do what I’ve always done. And that is EARN the title,” he says as if he’s lecturing those on the roster he doesn’t quite respect. He folds his arms across his chest. “The reason why I have to be the favorite to win this match is simple. I even said it already but I’ll repeat it for the slower individuals watching this – It’s because Adam Stryker is a man of his word. When I say I will run the gauntlet in that match and drop every single fool that’s in my way, I mean it and I will do everything to fulfill it. The rest of the field are not like me. They are the same as most of the people I’ve had the displeasure of knowing over my two decades in the business. Hypocrites.” Stryker’s expression hardens as he stares down the camera. “Wild Willey tried to take our fight outside the ring, tried his outlaw shit on me, and when that didn’t work, he said I ‘moved out of his way’. No Willey, I promised you a beating the next time I see you, and that time is coming,” he nods. “Hector Venegas tried to disprove my words about him not knowing who he really is, and did it while wearing a mask and changing his persona once again. He tried to flex the AWS World Heavyweight title he won a long time ago, but still ended up looking at the lights,” Stryker insists. “TJ Alexander talked a big game, disrespected a veteran in Mike Dimter and kept insisting how there was no chance he would not walk out of Ward without the C4 Championship… And then he lost. He wasn’t as amazing as he claimed, was he? And even though he should be crawling back to the end of the line, he gets another title shot, this time for the Interstate title. Same with Ace Sky, who failed to claim the Fusion Championship and still gets another shot immediately in the Battle Rumble. Even if all he talked about was the fact he needs to get surgery.” Stryker lets out a big sigh. “I could go on and on… But you get my point.” He puts his hands in the pockets of his jeans. “As you may know, I’m a bit of a history buff and unlike many leaders of this world, I am aware we have to learn from history so we don’t repeat our mistakes. The situation I find myself in, surrounded by ambitious hypocrites, reminds me of the aftermath of Alexander the Great’s death. When he died, in 323 BC, he left no clear successor. The Diadochi, his generals, spent the next four decades fighting one another. Most died bloody deaths in unnecessary battles. Only a handful of them survived and managed to carve out a little piece of the kingdom for themselves… But nobody REALLY won. The empire that Alexander built was never whole again. Why? The crown was there for the taking. There was just nobody strong or smart enough to claim it immediately. Nobody with a good enough strategy, just a bunch of men throwing themselves into battle. Fighting for scraps I don’t settle for. That’s the part of the story I intend to learn from,” he says, tapping the side of his head. “The men I talked about earlier, and anybody who decides to join the Battle Rumble, can try to fight as hard as they want. No matter how bloody this battle gets, this time, there will be a strong, smart man waiting for his opportunity to make the empire his. Only this time, there is no crown to show who’s the new leader, but the AWS Interstate Championship. March 17th, at Survival of the Fittest… Adam Stryker will build his empire in AWS.” We fade to black.
